Artists use a portfolio to show their work. Why shouldn’t the technical fields do the same?
Your main job security is your ability to get your next job. Of course, your most important activity for finding a new job is networking. However, Human Resource department wants resumes and hiring managers only want to know ‘What you can do for me.’ Right or wrong, people believe past performance is indicative of future performance. And leaders believe they can be a good judge of people based on their past.
As a ‘Single Shingle’ consultant (management engineer) and technical service contractor, marketing myself is a struggle. Lets meet on April 2nd, I will share my approach on creating a portfolio and other marketing material. You can share yours. You do have personal marketing material, don’t you?
