    IT Project Manager Opportunity @ The Seattle Times Company

    The Seattle Times Company, the Northwest Leader in print and online media, is currently seeking an IT Project Manager to lead multiple complex system projects that support our dynamic business environment.  

     

    Responsibilities:

    * As part of a newly created PMO, become the go-to person for transforming project ideas into business results.

     

    * Partner with key business leaders in multiple business units (Advertising, Circulation, Human Resources and others).  Develop and nurture long-term relationships, earning their trust and confidence.

     

    * Perform feasibility studies to determine whether projects will achieve an appropriate ROI;  establish and manage project budget.

     

    * Identify resource needs, assemble project teams, and provide ongoing leadership for cross-functional project teams.

     

    * Lead the team in the creation of a project plan and guide, coach and mentor the team throughout the project.

     

    * Manage project scope and provide technical leadership for the project during feasibility, planning, development and implementation stages of the project.

     

    * Working with your project team(s), help them achieve an appropriate balance of  scope, schedule, cost, and quality.

     

    * Routinely interface with a broad range of project participants and stakeholders, including business owners, end users, vendors, analysts and developers.

     

    * Ensures effective communication between management, business department customers and project team members.  This includes updates on progress, challenges, risks and opportunities.

     

    * When appropriate, create RFP's, manage a vendor selection process, establish relationships with vendors and negotiate contracts

     

    * Facilitate team meetings ranging from a daily status check-in, technical design, steering committee meetings and more.

      

    Your Strengths:

    * Five years of Information Technology experience; at least 2 years in project management.

     

    * Thrives on the opportunity to reconcile disparate perspectives and quickly achieve a consensus.

     

    * Anticipates issues and considers how project team decisions impact the customer and business.

     

    * Strong analytical and problem solving skills; creativity and good judgment to solve complex issues.

     

    * The ability to effectively communicate and "translate" between business and technical staff.

     

    * Ability to manage self and others to meet multiple demands.

     

    * Progressive leadership responsibility and the demonstrated ability to motivate a team.

     

    * Experience leading Agile project teams is a strong plus.

     

    * Bachelors degree in a technology related program or equivalent work experience
